INTERNSHIP / VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY

The Vaclav Havel Library Foundation (VHLF) is seeking a creative intern / volunteer to assist the Executive Director with two major events: the second year of the Award for a Courageous Writer at Risk, Disturbing the Peace, and the pilot year of the Theater Festival honoring Vaclav Havel that will be held at the Bohemian National Hall in Manhattan from September 27 till October 1, 2017.

The Vaclav Havel Library Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in the United States to honor, preserve, and build upon the legacy of playwright, dissident, and former President of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic, Vaclav Havel. Through activities relating to issues important to Havel, support of research devoted to themes connected to Havel’s legacy as a playwright, VHLF aims to serve as a “living library” focused on advancing the legacy of former President Havel.

The ideal candidate should be interested in the areas of human rights, Eastern Europe history, politics, and theater, and management of a start-up nonprofit organization. The position is ideal for students planning to travel to Eastern Europe, to pursue European studies or just gain some experience in that part of the world. We offer a limited personal assistance with related arrangements.

Hours are flexible, however, we prefer commitment to at least 8 hours per week for a minimum of 2 months. This is an ongoing opportunity. The intern / volunteer can start working immediately.
